Career Classes

Classes will be offered online from January-June, 2021. All classes are free.

Culinary Pathways

Train for ten weeks to receive certifications that will make you ready for employment in careers like prep cook or line cook.

  • First four weeks:  English for your culinary workplace (taught at APDC)

  • Next six weeks:  Full-time professional kitchen training at WOW, 1200 Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80204, https://workoptions.org/ 


During COVID-19, Culinary Pathways is temporarily unavailable.  However, please email Heathre (APDC Career Navigator) if you want this course:  heathermorgan@apdc.org.  She is keeping a waitlist and will contact you.   Culinary Pathways will return as soon as possible!

Career Exploration

This is an English class that will assist you with the vocabulary and skills needed for any job or career.  What are your employment goals?  We can work on them together in this class.

*Skills include work-related writing (email, job applications, resumes) and interviewing skills.


More support for your Career Pathway!

  • APDC offers short workshops every month.  In just 90 minutes, you can learn a lot about topics like work-related email, applying for jobs online, interviewing, and specific careers (for example, health care, education, construction, entrepreneurship).

  • For all APDC students, individual career coaching is also available.

Paraeducator Pathways

Do you want to work in a school? A paraeducator is an employee who works under the supervision of teachers or other licensed personnel.


In the Paraeducator Pathways class, you will:

  • Learn English for working in education

  • Understand and complete requirements to work in schools and with children

  • Prepare to take the WorkKeys assessment

  • Connect with local schools and teachers

  • Develop important tools for a successful caree

Small Business Class

Do you want to be your own boss? Do you have an idea for a new business, but don't know where to start? Try APDC's Small Business class!


In Small Business class at APDC, you will:

  • Learn English for business

  • Understand small business and entrepreneurship

  • Write a business plan

  • Work one-on-one with business professionals who can help you start and grow your business
