hinkley HIGH SCHOOL
APDC Youth Leadership Academy™ program offers an array of afterschool clubs to all students at Hinkley High School. We provide students with a safe space to share commonality with other students through themed clubs. These afterschool clubs are student led which allows for students to cultivate leadership skills.
As community partners, APDC YLA™ has been able to support the following clubs at Hinkley High School:
In addition to supporting student clubs, we provide real-world experiences through field trips that are related to club activities.
The APDC YLA™ program strives to not only support students through enrichment programming, but we prepare our students with academic and career planning. Enrollment is open throughout the APS school year.
MEET OUR YLA HINKLEY COORDINATOR:
Ms. Isabella "Izzy" Lopez - isabellalopez@APDC.org
Isabella “Izzy” Lopez has a passion for helping others and seeing youth succeed with the proper support and encouragement.
In the center of a room, you can easily find Izzy sparking conversation with others, acting as a fountain of ‘useless’ knowledge as she shares trivia about various topics, or making people laugh with stories and commentary on things that have happened in her life. The conversation comes as easy as her work in the community, and Izzy has long dedicated her career to the betterment of others, whether it be campaigning for aid for undocumented students in college or exploring discoveries in community mental health as she pursues her Master’s of Public Health at CU Anschutz. Izzy has overcome a difficult past as an undocumented youth and now uses her experience and knowledge to aid others in that position. She is currently the YLA Youth Development & Support Specialist at Hinkley High School and loves the opportunity to work at her alma mater.
Outside of work, Izzy’s hobbies are various but include drawing, watching Disney movies, playing video games, and spending time with her dogs Tavi & Yote.
